Woke up at 6am
Today was a pretty productive day. I managed to get the window to the bedroom installed and was also able to install a toilet. I never knew just how happy something like this would have made me. I guess it is the little things in life that make us happy. Later on I covered the entire bathroom with black plastic on all sides and on top. Here’s hoping the caulking will get dry by tomorrow and I can have a fully functional toilet in my life. Even though it seemed like a pretty straight forward task it wasn’t without its own hiccups though. The toilet seat lid that came with the unit was already broken straight out of the box. So I will be returning it for a fixed one in the near tomorrow if possible.
I did, however, went ahead and bought a new air mattress today. I will take back the broken one tomorrow to get my money back. Fingers crossed. The van Martin gave me in exchange for the broken one is still giving me problems with the door handle. I will be making sure to ask for my entire refund back from him also. Thank goodness for good people in the world or I would still be stuck in the mud today. Nicky Boy came by and managed to pull me out of the mud in about 5 minutes. I can see now that a 4×4 vehicle is quite crucial around these parts. I tried to give him money for gas, but he refused. This gives me hope for humanity once again.
It’s weird how the native Island people are the ones I was warned about when I arrived, yet, they are the only ones who go out of their way to be nice and help me. It’s sad to say, but every single person that has tried to take advantage of me since coming to this island has been Caucasian. Normally I don’t even notice the color of peoples skin, but this has been severely hard to ignore. I am not sure what is going on here, but I am curious if this is statewide or just the current area we are in.
