Day 31

Dec. 6, 2017
Woke up at 10 am today.
I guess I needed to catch up on some sleep. I didn’t go to sleep until 5am this morning as the north winds were blowing extremely hard last night. But, once I did get up and start moving around it was off to the races. After some much-needed Advil, of course.

I went ahead and finished laying the rest of the subfloor. Later on in the day, I went over to Home Depot to grab the piping for all of the plumbing that will need to be done before I close up the floor. Once I got back, I finished up the framing and started laying the pipes. It started to get dark by this point so I decided to head off to the grocery store to pick up some food and water. While there Nolan called to let me know that my debit
card had arrived. So I swung by and grabbed it on my way back to Home Depot to pick up some missing couplings I needed.

The reason I had to have my debit card sent to his home is that someone in Florida had used my credit card to make some rather large transactions. This happened on the very first day I had arrived on the island. Which means I was without my bank card from day one. I sent the new card to the Airbnb address I was staying at when I arrived but was later informed that the address did not receive mail there as the landlady has a P.O. box only. And she will not be back to the island for a few months so I would have been without my card until the last week of my stay. Luckily I had my credit cards and some cash on me to get me by until now. I am so glad I noticed this right away as the person only did a $1 Facebook transaction as a tester and when I called the bank about it they informed me that since this went through the person was now attempting to make large online purchases with my card and they put a hold on it. So let this be a lesson to always regularly check your cards and report anything out of the ordinary, even if it’s only a few cents or a dollar.
