Day 5

Nov. 10, 2017
Woke up at 7:00am
Ended up having to get up and plug the batteries in this morning, as I forgot to do so last night. :/ It just meant I would get a bit of a later start, but due to the weather, that was going to happen anyway(Crisis adverted).

I took this time to go and grab some hedge shears to use on the vines that were clogging up the chainsaw. They ended up working out pretty well, but still no match for the multiple logs laying on the ground beneath the brush.

After some very tiring ax work, I managed to clear a good majority of the logs, but I am still nowhere near where I would like to be at this point. I did, however, manage to meet the neighbors Chris and Erin. They are both nice people. Each one stopped by at different times unaware that the other had come by. The main focus of their visit was to make sure I was not just some random squatter trying to make a new home for myself on someone else’s property. They were aware that the previous owner was a Canadian national. Also, he was of Asian descent. So, in seeing some random Mainlander just hacking away at the property all by himself, it peaked their interest. It seems they have a real issue with this on the island. Just a few houses down on their other side was a two year long battle with the family who had moved into a home while the owner was out of town. I let them know that I had purchased the land and will be building a home here. They seemed nice and their little girls were excited for our new baby to arrive and grow so they can have someone to play with.

I finally called it a day around five and came back to the room to gather up receipts and get caught up on paperwork. So far we are right on schedule with our budget.
