YouTube link: Day 1 Land Assessment
Nov. 6, 2017
Woke up at 7am
I started off the day by going to the site for the first time. I checked things out and got a good assessment of what needs to be done. During my visit, I Facetime’d with the wife, so she could see the field as well.
Once we were done I went over to the seaside for a bit to check things out.
Then I headed into town and had Jack in the Box for Breakfast, for the first time in about 5 years. I know this sounds tacky since I am away from home and should explore the local cuisine, but to me, this was a treat. They do not have Jack in the Crack where I am currently living, so I felt this was a long time coming. Once I indulged my inner child, my next stop was to HPM Building Supplies in Hilo to price some tools. After getting absolutely nowhere I headed over to Home Depot to look for a battery-powered table saw, and the Dewalt 7 toolset with a lockable trunk. Both of which were in Kona.Which was on the complete opposite side of the Island. So I drove to the other side to get these tools and, go figure, the last remaining tool I needed was back on the previous side of the island I just came from. So I had some ramen* for lunch and then headed back to Hilo. Once I was back in town and finished up with my tool purchases, I went over to Target to get a camcorder and stand. I managed to also pick up an inverter, to plug-in all the batteries so they can charge them while I am working. Also, I picked up a few clearing tools and marking items for the land for good measures. My final stop was to the grocery store to get some food for my Airbnb. I have plans to meet with the real estate agent tomorrow afternoon, so fingers crossed on gaining a little knowledge of the area that can help us along this journey.
